Application to Start a Group for Myatts Road - Next Steps

From Philip Virgo, Development Lead for Neighbourhood Watch in Lambeth and Acting Membership Support Administrator (MSA) for Myatts Fields Ward. I should add that, like you I am a part-time volunteer seeking to make Lambeth a better place to live.

Thank you for applying to start a Neighbourhood Watch scheme for Myatts Road.  I have checked  the area you propose to cover and was pleased to see one potential participant already registered.  

As part of the process, we need to arrange a short chat with you before your scheme can be approved.

I plan to be at the Lambeth volunteering fair in West Norwood Library on 11th July from 11.00 - 14.00 otherwise I could manage an evening zoom on the13th or 17th July or the late morning of 13th, 15th, 16th or 17th July. Alternatively let me know when would be convenient for you. When we speak I will ask what you want to achieve and whether you have already met any of the Myatt's Fields Safer Neighbourhoods Team .

In practice most Neighbourhood Watch Street/Estate Groups in Lambeth begin with just a co-ordinator and a couple of other participants. These then handle relations between a street/estate Whatsapp or other social media group and the Ward Safer Neighbourhood Team (e.g. providing CCTV of any incidents) and also provide a representative to the Ward Safer Neighbourhood Panel. 

Most remain that way. But some become more ambitious, linking to initiatives that help them support vulnerable neighbours in a wide variety of ways.  

Once your application is approved, you will be able to invite neighbours to register, be officially registered as a scheme and be part of the Neighbourhood Watch network, able to start making a real difference in your local community.
